Teens discover culture on the Côte D'Azur with KidooLand

Over the last couple of years we have added to our programme here at KidooLand so that there are activities for the older tweens and teens age 10-16 years to enjoy in English, here on the French Riviera. (see www.adoland.camp)

It's a concept that they absolutely love - to get out and about visiting the South of France speaking and working all the time in English without having to take an Easyjet flight to a rainy Britain!

In a typical week in 2015 the preenagers and teenagers spent 3 days on outings and 2 days doing team challenges and presentations in the Sophia Country Club aswell as sports and swimming. Our year round leaders take small groups to the museums and plethora of cultural sites as well as a fantastic 'just for fun' excursions too once per week.

So far our cultural outings have included the Picasso museums in Vallauris and Antibes .. both are a must visit as they are so different. The Vallauris museum also has the benefit of the chapel with the floor to ceiling mural and also a little workshop that groups can visit to participate in an artistic activity that is frequently linked to the exhibition we had seen. Antibes is also a great day out as we can enjoy the town, the beach and interview the visiting tourists to find out why they came to the Côte d'Azur (in English of course!)

Further afield we take the good bus links to Nice, Grasse and Cannes ...

MAMAC in Nice .. The Ados loved their day in Nice. They had a little time to wander through the old town and enjoy the fantastic new park cooling off in the fountains before their tour of Modern Art in the MAMAC museum in Nice. The feedback from the teens was that it was interactive (read interesting) and they really enjoyed the discussion points that arose from the modern creations and Pop Art collections. http://www.mamac-nice.org

Musée de la Castre in Cannes .. Not only was the meandering walk up to the site enjoyable but the views across the bay of Cannes were beautiful. We found the entrance fees to La Castre very reasonable price for our group and included a tour in English and a little workshop . The ados particularly enjoyed the Roman exhibition in the Chapel.

They run workshops in the holidays and term time but do book ahead.

We are so lucky to have Grasse the perfume capital of France if not the world right on our doorstep !! So much to choose from .. we discovered Fragonard both the museum which runs excellent free tours in English on how there perfume making process works and the founder's Villa - the Musée Jean-Honoré FRAGONARD which was open to the public last year after being closed for renovation...

Our first cultural outing prize is reserved for the Musée International de la parfumerie as once again the interactive nature of this museum was perfect for young inquisitive minds. It uses a multi sensorial approach that is really engaging and the teens travelled through time discovering the different methods and techniques used in perfume making. There is a specific route for the 7+years to take with interactive "bornes' computer points and activities to touch and smell.

So 2016 is upon us .. and we have some great cultural outings planned for this year .. do check in with us on www.adoland.camp for more details
